I have an almost 5 year old. I haven't seen him in 4 and a half years. He lives with his father and his girlfriend they have been together for 4 years. Would it be possible for me to get my son back even though I haven't seen him in 4 and a half years?

I am the step mother and this is something my sons birth mother wants to do.

ETA.

You guys are awesome thank you.

I'm not judging or bashing, but have a couple questions before I can make an informed response....

Why haven't you seen your son in 4.5 years? What state are you in? What was the reasoning behind your ex taking or receiving custody of your son at 6 months?

That would be an incredibly selfish thing to do. You're not his mom.

I gave birth to him. I don't want him calling another woman mom.

You will have to go thru courts...I can tell you because child doesn't know you, they might order supervised visits,if they allow you any visitation at all. Good luck

How do you just not want to see your own child unless you're really young??
