I have 5 cats.........

Why does this shock people?

They all get vet care and vaccinations.

They are fed great food, and fresh water daily :)

They each get adaquate attention.

They are all spayed/neutered.

Litter boxes are cleaned daily, the litter I use is awesome so there is never any smell (people have come into my place and say "wow if I didn't see the cats and all their toys I would never know there were cats here."

They only pee/poop in the litter boxes...

So what's the big deal? Why does it matter if I have 5 cats?

A lot of people have asked what kind of litter I use here is a picture:

....is it bad that I consider 5 a below average amount of cats?

One cat is enough for me.

Far from normal.

What litter do you use? I'm looking for a new brand. We have 3 cats, btw. I think 5 is just fine given the care you described.

I have 5 cats too. And 4 kittens. My friends call me the crazy cat lady.  I'm looking for homes for the 4 kittens and 2 of the adult cats (stray cats seem to find their way to my back door and I can't say no).

I don't find it crazy at all.  cats don't really take up all that much space.

Is it legal in your area to have that many cats? I know in my area the max is 3

Which litter do you use and what kind of litter box do you have?  I have two cats and have tried everything....this dumb old littermaid is useless.

I had 8 at one point. One cat I had to put down due to kidney failure :( nothing I could do to help her, no idea why it even happened. The vet was baffled :/ two of them (kittens) I was able to find homes for.

I think it's a normal amount of cats... I mean, at least it isn't 5 indoor dogs :) When I was growing up we actually did have 5 indoor dogs, it was a mad house.

My cats are awesome though, very well behaved too and love people (well one is terrified of the world and everything in it lol)
