So, everyone seems to think you shall all die a terribly painful death here in Australia, here are a few statistics for you ;)

There have been 877 shark attacks in Australia since our records started in 1791. 216 of these have been fatal. About 30% of shark attacks are fatal.

Between the years of 1980 and 2009 we have had 41 recorded deaths, that's less than 2 deaths per annum.

Since 1979 no person has been recorded has having died from a spider bite, due to anti-venoms for all native species.

About 20 people a year die from horse riding accidents.

Around about 10 people per year for allergic reactions to bee stings.

And about 300 a year drown.

So don't stress :)

Those stats are meaning less unless done as percentages. So if there are 1000 people and 300 drown a year and the Us has a 10,000 people and 2000 drown a year. Australia would have a significently higher drowning rate.
