My kid (6) doesnt use a carseat UPDATE

I have 3 children and only 2 car seats. A third one will not fit so my oldest goes without a car seat. She is 6* ( I had a typo at first and said 7 but she is six). We can not afford a new car and live about 15 miles out of town so we can not walk or take the bus. I try my hardest to avoid going in the car but sometimes we just have to.

It is legal btw I live in arizona and because we do not have enough room in the car to fit another car seat we are exempt.

UPDATE: I talked to DH and he says we should be able to get a new car in about 3 months. I am so excited!

I am sure you could fit three it just might mean buying a new seat or two.

We have the smallest car seats we could find. A third one just will not fit the middle "seat" is not actually big enough to fit a seat.

6 moms liked this

I just looked it up and it is true, you don't have to restrain your 7 year old since there isn't enough room.

Personally, I think it is bad parenting. Convenience over safety...fabulous!

If you can't properly restrain ALL your children then get a bigger car. SMH!

She is 6 there was a typo in my first post.

It is bad parenting that is why we almost never go anywhere.

If I could afford another car I would

I just looked up Arizona laws and there is no exemption. Children who are at least 5 but younger than 8 MUST be in booster seats, period.

Putting her life at risk, even once, is unacceptable.

What car do you have? How long is your backseat? How old are all of your kids?

I have a small audi a4 and it fits three. I wouldn't have bought it if I couldn't fit the car seats in it without any issues. Hubby said I was embarrassing when car shopping because my first questions where "how big are the backseats" and "can I put my car seats in to see how they fit".
