tubes in ears/adnoids/strep throat/sleep apnea HELP!!!! ANY HELP AT ALL!

I need to piece this together.  I replied to the sleep apnea post and got a surprising answer about DSs night terrors. I just trying to put another mystery piece into place. I was going to reply this to her post but thought I may get more help this way (and didnt want to highjack her post)

Something I have wondered is DS has tubes in his ears because of fluid. Since then(got them in when he was 5 and they are still in at 7) he doesnt get sick "normally" Hes had strep twice this year and it didnt present like you would think. The first time he was a little sick for a few days. A week later his saying he has a pain in his groin. I think UTI and take him to the Drs. She said its rare for boys to get them he probably pulled something. I bring up that he was sick and just wanted to double check. She decided to do a step test and it came back positive. No sore throat fever rash. She said its common as a symptom to be abdominal pain. A few months later. Same pain, same spot so we go to the ER. They want to rule everything out with an xray. I said do a strep test, positive again. He was just fine. Not sick at all. Just the other day he started having the same darn pain. Every time he says it just feels like hes REALLY HUNGRY. I have no darn idea why its never a sore throat fever rash or him just being ILL. Could it be because of the tubes? Could something in his throat be going on why he has it all the time or it just never goes away?  For Heavens sake its June so like every 2 months hes had it this year.  Any help or ideas?

(I just wanted to say I replied to the other post asking if night terrors and sleep apnea are linked and the OP said that with sleep apnea they are 50% more likely to have them and they were asked if she had them at all of their appointments.  DS has had night terrors since he was 3)

my dd just tested positive for strep. again. second time in a month. they want to remove her tonsils. but I haven't yet seen the ent so I don't know what to expect. I keep hearing that tonsils holds bacteria and removing them eliminates the source. but my dd runs a constant fever for days. no joke. first time she ran fever from Sunday to the following Saturday. she's had fever since early Monday morning this time.and her fever doesn't budge when given either Tylenol or Advil.

I'm the OP of the sleep apnea thread. I really can't help with tonsils as my dd has never had even a tonsil infection or anything. But I'm sending you good thoughts.

It definitely sounds like something in his throat could be happening. I'd take him to an ENT and not a regular doctor if you can

It was a FIGHT to get to an ENT for us.  DS had 9 ear infections in a year and some of them took multiple rounds of meds to clear.  9!!!! before I finally got a referral! He had lots of hearing loss and it had effected his speech.  His ENT only wanted to see him after the surgery, at 6 months and a year out.  That was it.  DS is the complete opposite of your DD.  Honest to God, the last time it happened DS was at his friends house most of the day.  Came back at 4 said he was hungry.  I work 3rd and I wake up at 2-230 so I had just made some english muffin pizzas.  He ate 2 (or a whole muffin) and then started crying because he was still SO HUNGRY.  I knew darn well he wasnt starving and it clicked its happening ALL OVER AGAIN!  I didnt have a phone and DH had the truck I gave him ibuprofin and couldnt even hold him or move him.  He cant stand up and you cant touch his belly.  I started crying because I dont do anything to help.  2 hours he was like that. Then he finally started to calm down.(its how the pattern goes the pain comes in so quick and leaves just the same) IDK what to do for him and getting to a specialist is like pulling teeth!

May God lead you to the doctor who has the knowledge needed to help your sweet little boy to heal. May He comfort you and your son as you go through this time of searching and healing.

Thanks!  :)  We live in a very country community and the ENT he saw only comes to the hospital twice a month.  On top of that by the looks of his site they dropped our ins so maybe thats why they never called for a follow-up?  The search is on now for a new ENT(most of the specialists are an hours drive from us so we need all the help we can get!)

Does he go to daycare? Usually when one person has strep you should check everyone around if they have it and treat them. That is what we had to do. We kept getting strep. Also make sure all toys are disinfected door nobs cabinets facets bathtub sheets. Thoroughly clean your house.

My DD got the tonsils & adenoids removed at 5 and tubes at the same time. Almost immediately after the surgery her sleep apnea stopped, she got sick less, she could hear better, her speech and reading improved, energy levels went up and even her attitude improved (I think because she was sleeping better). They told me the tubes would come out on their own or would need to be removed at her 1 year follow up. At her follow up they were gone. You might want to ask if they should still be there.

I don't know anything about the night terrors, she never had them before or after.

I don't know if any of that helps but good luck

Really?  At his 1 year he said that they were still there and that the longer they were in the better.  Less chance of infections starting again.  They would still fall out on their own.  I KNOW they are there because DS squeeled like a stuck pig when he didnt listen and jumpped in the pool and got water in them.(He thought mommy wouldnt know)

No daycare. Hes the ONLY one who gets it.  I had mono in HS and if there is a sore throat to be caught I always get it.  This kid is 100% FINE until the pain hits.  I was reading online that sometime people are carriers of it and so they will come up positive even when they are fine AND after being treated.

Maybe each case is different, I only know what happened with my DD. I don't know anyone else who's had it done.
