I told my kids to go get swimsuits on and we'd go to the pool. They are 9 and 6. They both went to the laundry room rather than upstairs.
Well my DD went to my room to change and my DS must have gone in there too.
For the most part they agree that this is what happened.
My son went in there with DD and was trying to watch her change so she told him to leave. When he refused, she tried to go in the closet to change. Somehow DS ended up slapping DD across the face.
So she shoved him off of her, and he fell on the floor and bit his lip splitting it open on the way down.
There was blood everywhere and he had to have 3 stitches.
There was a huge red mark on DD's face and she admitted that she was the one that hurt him.
He admitted to hitting her, but I'm unclear as to why he slapped her across the face.
All I told my son was "you disrespected her by not giving her privacy and then you hit her in the face. You deserved to get knocked down. I'm sorry you are hurting, and tha you had to go through this. I hate seeing either one of you hurt. But you were absolutely in the wrong and this is what happens when you act that way."
I told DD that while its never okay to her brother she was not in trouble for defending herself.
