Over the last few weeks I have seen an incredible amount of southern bashing on here. Do all of you honestly think it is still the 60's and everyone in the south is a racist homophobe? Or that racism is exclusive to the south? Have any of you bashers actually lived in Atlanta, Nashville, Memphis, or Macon? Or any decent size southern town? Or are you just making assumptions?

When I think of someone who is southern I do not think about large cities. I think about the small town small minded southern that I grew up knowing. Do my opinions about southerners come from personal experience, yes.

I don't think everyone in the south is a racist homophobe, but I still think the south blows.

I hear ugly things being said up here (Wyoming) almost as much as I did in Texas. That's saying quite a bit considering the population difference.

I grew up in the south and always love those who don't live here but make assumptions. It is the same as me assuming if you are from NY or somewhere up north, you must of course be rude, snotty, and elitist. Funny that so many move to the south for the weather, jobs, and hospitality. We must be doing something right.
