Yesterday I saw an older lady I have had many conversations with, all in spanish. ( I am bilingual and mixed, half hispanic half italian btw) I assumed she only spoke spanish though. I had never heard her speak english, not even with my teenager, who doesn't speak much spanish. Well yesterday, I saw her in line at the grocery store and she started a conversation with me, all in english! How strange, I thought. I even told her in spanish, (just a habit of the language I spoke to her, I guess), Hey I didn't even realize you spoke english. she said yes, she does. Imagine you always spoke to a person in one language for a long time, and suddenly they spoke to u in complete english. kind of weird, lol. ETA: ok I corrected it, it now it says I saw instead of I seen. Happy, grammar nazis?

Does seem wierd. I guess since she was Hispanic you assumed she couldn't speak English without ever asking? People are surprised that I can speak Spanish as well.

That'd be very strange. Maybe she assumed you didn't speak much English or were more comfortable in Spanish?
