So what kinds of games and toys are all the cool 9-11 year olds into these days. I need help shopping for a gift.

Minecraft.  But if you don't want to buy that, get Minecraft.  Otherwise, the only other thing I can suggest is Minecraft. Good luck!

Minecraft (boy or girl it doesn't matter). Skylanders (boy or girl, it doesn't matter). LEGOS are still big (boy or girl). Monster High is also big. 

That is just about everything my younger girls are into. They are 9 and 11.

Get them a croquet set so they have to actually go outside.
