Meaning they can eat what I make or make themselves a sandwich

They can clear their dishes from a meal.

They can help clean a mess they made.

If they are too rowdy I will tell them to calm down.

If they hurt someone they need to apologize

If they stay the night I will tuck them in and read a story.

If they get hurt I will treat the injury, dry tears, and give a hug.

A neighbor left her ten year old with me and is mad I told him if he didn't want the chicken Parmesan he was welcome to make a sandwich.

And when he drop kicked my daughter and I made him sit with me for ten minutes. I was apparently out of line.

And I shouldn't be making him clean my house. Even though he is the one who dumped every Lego we have.

Told her he doesn't need to come over then. I had him from 7 AM until 2 AM. She was with her sister who was having a baby. I was happy to watch him and with the exception of a few minor incidents all went well

His mother should be appalled by his behavior, not mad at you for reasonable rules and punishments. Drop kicking your daughter? A 10 minute time out was lenient.

I do have a question though. What if you had someone with celiac stay with you and did not like the meal you made?

I agree! I would have given him a lot more than just a 10 minute time-out for kicking  my kid though.
