Yes it is a great thing when you havent seen him in 7 years.

One thing I forgot to ask the lawyer....

How do I get my maiden name back?

File for a name change and pay the costs. Should be pretty easy.

My attorney asked me at the first meeting if I wanted him to put in for a name change at the same time as the divorce.

Pretty sure you just go back to where you changed your name to begin with and just change it back.

If it is in the divorce papers than you just take the papers with you and Chang it on your licenses and social security card

When I got divorced my lawyer asked me if I wanted to go back to my maiden name. It was free if I did it at the time of my divorce. If I choose to do it later it costs over $200 to do it.

And expensive I've heard. A friend of mine paid a few hundred to change hers back.

My attorney had it put in our divorce decree that I could go back to my maiden name without having to pay additional fees. I kept his name though.

Yes, same. I am wondering why her attorney didn't do this for her??

Oh that should've been handled within your divorce decree and it would've been free. Now that you're divorced, they make you pay to change it.

you have to have it state you want to go back to you maiden name in ur divorce decree and then go to your social security office and get a new social sercurity card then go to DMV. then you can change everything else. but if you dont have it on you divorce decree you will have to go back to court and put it in there you can't change it.

i just went through this so i feel yeah!
