We have an open walk in closet. No door And it has a window in it. I put the baby's crib in there just to keep it out of the way while I'm still pregnant. It fits through the doorway. But i have nothing on my side of the closet. Would it be weird to keep it in there? I have a arms reach co sleeper that I'll be using the first couple months.

That's more room than a drawer.

No I dont think so, you make the space that you have work and as long as you have a monitor in the room just in case you dont wake up to crying etc I think that it would be an ok alternative

My closet is only marginally smaller than the room I spent my entire childhood in.

I see nothing wrong with it.  Baby is close if you need to wake up to tend him, but you still have some privacy, and he's not shut in.  Win.
