**UPDATE** Snake in my HOUSE!!! Help me Identify Please!
Okay, I know it's not poisonous, but I'm curious what it is, and what I should do with it. I haven't been able to identify it using my state's herpetological website for identifying native species, so I'm wondering if maybe it's not native and got loose from someone's house or something. I am in central VA!
UPDATE: I sent these pics to a friend of mine who's basically a reptile expert and she confirmed it was a juvenile black rat snake. She said they turn all black when they get....wait for it...about 5 FEET LONG! I was entertaining the idea of keeping it, but he seemed really stressed out and there's NO WAY we have room for a 5-ft-long snake. I explained that to my son and he understood and was VERY mature about letting it go (he's 4!) We took it down to the creek down the street and let him swim away in the water. He looked so happy, and it was a great learning experience for my son! Thanks for all the replies!
