My dd recently got rotavirus, and became very ill, very quickly. She vomited so much that she became dangerously dehydrated. She was admitted into the hospital, and couldn't keep anything down, and flat out refused to eat anything solid, or drink anything from a cup. She still isn't, and has been out of the hospital for several days now. Her condition of release was that she could hold down something. The doctor gave me major kudos for breastfeeding past one year, and said that her hospital stay could have been much longer had it not been for her bfing. She is still ONLY nursing right now. If it weren't for that, she wouldn't be getting the nourishment that she needs
Proud mommy moment :)
Eta: this post was not meant to offend. I never said that formula feeding moms are "bad moms" or whatever. This post was simply to show one of the many benefits of nursing past one year, since so Many people think that you should wean at 1. If you chose to ff your kid then that's fine. If you nurse your kid, then that's fine too, but you should consider doing it past a year. It never ceases to amaze me at the women that get their panties in such a wad and twist words to make them into something they are not.
