Your paycheck before deductions

So this may sound silly but I'm just curious.
About how much different is your paycheck after taxes and other deductions.
I get paid once a month so I usually do a simple rundown of what my next paycheck might be.
I work at least 35hrs a week(that's considered full time where I work) but usually end up filling in 1day a week to get the 40hrs if not more.
Our pay is the 23rd to the 23rd.
Be fore everything I will make ~1,687(with a 6.5hr extra shift) if I don't fill in more between now and the 23rd.
After everything comes out ill have maybe ~1,100.
$398 is an automatic because its kids insurance.
The rest is taxes, life insurance, retirement, union dues.
It's just depressing sometimes seeing the difference and knowing that if I work more, more taxes are taken. Don't get me wrong I understand the purpose if taxes it just frustrating some times!

There was a time I worried about how we would keep the lights on or if we'd have to endure another week of Ramen noodles.

This is not so any longer.

And I choose to leave it there.

My pay varies, so I can't really Say. I know there's about $126 taken out every week for medical, dental, and vision. The rest depends on what my gross pay is that week.

I would hate to get paid only monthly.

DH's weekly cheque when it's a short week is $1987 before taxes, $1368 after taxes. That includes his pension payments, union dues, EI and taxes.

My husband and I paid $310,000 last year in taxes on an income of $975,000.   We get a bit annoyed when we hear about welfare fraud since $93,000 of our taxes when to income-based entitlement programs.
