I dont think I do.
I live in a pretty upper middle class neighborhood. Nice cars, 2.5 kids, mid 30s or older, married.
There's a mix of people who got in over their heads in the realty department or crappy job economy.
Not me. I live with my so, we have 5 kids between us. I live off cs and hes military. Tattoos, mid 20s. Broke ho. But I love my house. Just feels surreal lol. We rent lol

So do you fit in to your neighborhood?

4 moms liked this

I thought we'd be the odd ones as we "moved on up" recently (financially).  But within a few months a neighbor was raided by 21 fed/atf vehicles!  We felt pretty normal after that!

I live in a very small town, and DH & I fit in pretty well here.  It's a very economically diverse place with a lot of weird people, but we get along with everybody, are respected within the community and live here quite happily.

yes i am now one of the liked elders of my area --- we once were the new family with babies and too much crazy noise - now we have older kids and our house is one of the last on our block that hasn't gotten turned into a damn rental

No.. I live in an upper class white neighborhood and I'm black.. I've had the police(unofficially) escort me home on a number of occasion.  I've had a few neighbors tell me  "Oh, I didn't know we had black people here".  Even though My house costs just as much as theirs, I drive a luxury car, I send my kid to the best private school-just like them..I'm still looked at as different.

Lol, we're kinda in the same situation...we live in a beautiful established neighborhood, all of our neighbors are older and have fancy job titles; one's a Dean at the nearby University. Most of the kids go to private school. I'm a SAHM and my dh is an E-6 in the military (we're hoping he advances this year though!), our kids go to the public schools, which are actually pretty decent. I think me and my next door neighbor's wife are the only Asians in the 'hood, and she's only here a few months out of the year.

Yeah, we fit. I'd say it's middle class around here. People here drive newer Fords or Chevys usually trucks or sedans. We are friends with several of the neighbors. We own a Saturn and a Ford.

The folks around here have jobs like: nurse at the local hospital, correctional officer, police officer, fireman, construction worker, retired military and electrician. LOL - it sounds like I just named off the Village People.

We do. Our neighborhood consists of 10 houses. 2 are empty, 2 have older (grandparents) couples with no kids, 1 has a single mom with a teenaged son, 5 (including ours) have both parents with kids that range from newborn to 11. There are a total of 12 kids in those 5 houses. We are ALL fairly middle class people who value our families and friends and we all get along pretty good with the exception of one house.
