How do you make chicken and dumplings?

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post
I have a rotisserie chicken and biscuits. I don't like it but hubby does so I figured I would surprise him. I have never made it and have no idea how! I want to make it so delicious that even I will love it.

I cut up an onion, celery, potatoes, parsnips and cook them all. I usually use left over chicken so I add that to the mix. Then I make a creamy mixture with herbs, flour, cream and make a sauce. I bake it in the oven with a biscuit crust, a little like a chicken pot pie.

I can boil the chicken if it is already cooked?

You didn't need to, just use chicken broth in place of the water.

I boil a whole chicken for about 2 hours. Pull all the chicken off the bones. Sieve the water the chicken cooked in and use some of the broth and add the chicken to it. I use the remainder broth with bisquik, roll it flat and cut out dumplings with a pizza cutter.drop them in the chicken & broth. Simmer about 25 minutes.

You boil it with the other ingredients, but you just skip step one.
So shred chicken, throw it in a pot with broth, soup, milk and bring to a boil, then add dumplings.
