You have 4 options. A) buy a vacant foreclosed home with tons of potential after tons of work $120,000. B) buy a home in mint condition, no pool, but nice landscaping and awesome upgrades throughout $188,000. C) buy home in mint condition (dream house) with pool $230,000 or D) continue to rent because you're not sure how long you'll be in this state before dh gets transferred again. Side note: we've been here for 3 years renting because we weren't sure of our time here but have grown to like it. Just worried after we buy again he'll get transferred.

I'd say C.

You can always sell your home if he gets transferred.

Definitely D if you're not confident about staying where you're at.

C. Doesn't seem like an overly difficult decisions to me.

what can you afford without getting yourself into trouble and what would the resale value be?

I say figure that out and go from there.

Might as well get the dream house if you can afford it. I personally would take the fixer upper, but that's my thing.

I would choose D. Wait until you're staying in a state to buy a house. No way would I buy a house and move in just to have to deal with packing, selling a house, and moving in somewhere else.

As a military family, we agreed we would not buy a home until he's out and we're settling somewhere.

C, I wish I could find a dream home for that price.
