Wal-Mart....

Another Wal-Mart story. So I went to Wal-Mart yesterday with my husband and 2 year old son. My son was acting like he had never been to a store before! He was grabbing everything and trying to throw it. He NEVER acts like this so I wad shocked. I told him if kept acting uncivilized I would take him to the car. He started acting better until we got in line to pick up our prescription. He threw a little stand and I picked it up fast, I was so embarrassed! After that, I grabbed his hand and started walking away. I heard a "don't take him away!" I look back and see the cashier at the pharmacy holding out a cookie and I told her "No, he doesn't need a cookie." So she leans over and hands it to my son and says "You be good now okay?" I was pissed! How would you feel/react? I just walked away and took him to the car.

I would've been pissed too. You don't reward acting out.

I would have yell at her and told him rewarding him for being bad is not the answer.

I would have been upset. At the same time, she was likely just trying to help.

Exactly! She gave my husband a dirty look because he was holding our son's hand and wouldn't let go until I was done cleaning up.

Yeah I would have been annoyed, too. Probably given the cookie back with a snarky "no...... Thank you."

That is true, but strangers shouldn't intervene when parents are trying to teach their kids a lesson.

I would have taken it from him put it on the counter and then found an assistant and told them what happened.
