I forgot to take books back to the library awhile back because I was in and out of the hospital. we get a notice stating that we owe like $40 no big deal but one of the books wasnt on the paper. Couple days ago we got a letter about the other book they want us to pay $150 for it. Its a book. *the book is the rise of the governor by robert kirkman* ughh.. I will pay it but thats just rediculous.

I think if you return the book you won't have to pay it all you should check

This... or you can just say it was lost and pay the cost to replace the book

Did you show them that the book wasn't listed on the paper?

Just take the book back and pay the late fee.

Then you should have returned it.

No I think it was because the book was a loaner from another library so it was normal to send it seperately

I had ongoing medical problems for 3 months and was in and out of the hospital and had to stay off my feet when I was home due to infections in my feet.

The library here will often take canned goods in place of fines. I have never heard of being charged for the cost of the book if it is returned. I found a library book when we moved that we had for nearly two years and once I returned the book the fine was still only $6.

Weird thing - our library puts the cost of the book on your credit report if you don't return it or pay for the cost to replace it within 60 days. I knew the book was missing but didn't have the $19 to pay to replace it. I asked if I brought them the same book in like-new condition if they would take that instead. I was able to find the book on Amazon for like 50 cents in like-new condition. They said no, so I said okay well sorry and then forgot about it. Found it when we moved.
