If you've given a child up for adoption...

If you gave your firstborn up for adoption, then went on to have 2 more children (that you keep custody of) do you still refer to yourself as a 'mom to three'? If you're only raising 2??

eta: I mean, to everyone. Family, close friends, acquaintances ... Publicly. Online usernames, email address etc.

I work with a guy who has 4 kids but gave he and his wife gave their oldest up for adoption (they were 16) and he says he has 5 kids.

I don't see why not.

I wonder about this- even deadbeat dads that create new families.

My bil gf lost custody of number 1 & 2 and then gave number 3 up for adoption but she always refers to her "3 boys".

My mom gave her third child up for adoption and refers to herself as a mom of two. She was raped and decided it was best to give him up instead of abortion.

That's the way most moms I know are. I tend to include all my kids most of the time. If I am not in a good place emotionally I leave out my daughter that was adopted and my daughter that is deceased. Wow that makes me feel bad now that I see it typed out. Guess I won't be doing that anymore.

Nope; I say I'm a mom of 2. But I never held my child; I don't even know if I had a boy or a girl; I've never seen a picture. I just generally don't bring my firstborn up
