Mom Confessions Mom Confessions

I got two g-d damn kids and I'll leave them in the car if I want to!

So I had to run to the store to get lettuce for taco night, and that's what I heard a woman screaming into her phone.

Add a few more expletives and you have her exact sentence.

She was trying to justify locking her two children in the car because she was going to take the key fob off and leave the car running to go into Walmart.

This is the same store where a man attempted to kidnap my 1 yo (then 10 months) when I was unlocking the door.

I have no idea who she was on the phone with, but apparently they were telling her what an awful idea that was.

How would you feel about leaving children strapped in their carseat inside a running but locked vehicle?

Btw-yesterday another toddler died after being left in a parking lot in the car.

Ladies-dont be stupid, or lazy, take your damn kids in the store.

When I was young, I wanted to stay behind in the car, but I was old enough to unbuckle my seatbelt and unlock the door. If a child is too young to leave the car when they get uncomfortable, they should never be left behind.

Quoting amber710:

I make a problem with my husband because he likes to leave the baby and the 5 year old in the car while he goes into the gas station to pay with cash. And they are within his sight and we live in a small town where he knows everyone.

So yes...I would go crazy on someone I know for leaving kids (under age 10 or so when they could understand about kidnappers and keeping the door locked) in the car while they run into Walmart.

If my SO ever did that with our DD I would not let him take her in the car alone anymore. Thank god mine is smart enough not to do that

Uh, definitely NOT at a walmart! I can HALF understand if you are in view of your car at all times (such as running in to pay for gas when you are parked by the door), but no way in hell if you can't at least see the car...even if you can, who says you can get there in time if someone tries something. Scary.

However, when I was a kid...my brother and I would be in the car alone for over an hour while my mom went shopping. We did almost wreck our car once while playing around, though...and there were a TON if fist fights.
