Do you have a tubal or do you have your DH/SO get a vasectomy? Why?

For me it was a tubal. At the time I found out I was pregnant with baby #5 the now ex & I were having problems. I knew either way if things worked out or if they didn't I was done having kids. So the deciding factor in whether I had a c-section (because my doctor's office didn't do VBACs) or a VBAC (which meant I would have to go to another doctor) was the fact that I could get a tubal as soon as the baby was born via c-section.

even though my last was a csection I did not want my tubes tied. He agreed to get a vasectomy.

My DH decided to have the vasectomy because he felt it was safer, less invasive and less side effects for him than me. He also felt that our birth control was a responsibility and burden I had for so long and he wanted to now take that responsibility and burden.

I also had a tubal. Now it turns out I need a hysterectomy (going under the knife in the fall). There is something ironic about getting your tunes tied only to later have everything, tied tunes and all, removed.

I'd rather us do both. If it came down to one of us, I'd get a tubal ligation.

Considering that I have life threatening pregnancies, we decided that I would have a tubal when I had my c-section. I figured that my OB would already be in there removing a baby, so just take care of it at the same time. I have NO regrets at all. Dh would have gotten a vasectomy willingly, but since the opportunity arose with no other surgeries necessary, I went for it.
