Skip the clothes as birthday presents for little kids!

Seriously, I know clothes are cheap to buy and all. But a little boy does not want clothes from his friends! And he has plenty as it is. He wants to open toys. When asked what size, I want to say why would you want to buy my kid clothes? Relatives are one thing, but friends ...nope. I want to say quit being a tight ass and buy a blankin ten dollar lego.

Update: So I just want to thank most of you for this debate (or debacle?). It felt good to lash out over something meaningless and ridiculous  so I could forget about the real issues for a little while. Someone took school supplies - twice, I gotta have something to bitch about too!

Or you can stop being entitled and accept whatever gift is given.

That's not actually how gift giving works.
Someone gives a gift. The person who receives a gift says "Thank you."  That's it.

I don't like when certain people give my children clothes as gifts either. Most of the time it's nothing that I would put my child in and have to end up giving it away. But I hear ya, most children want to open up toys.

And I would say, stop being so ungrateful and accept a gift in the spirit in which it is given.

I will tell you what I tell my child before every birthday party she has, "It is the thought that counts." DD knows to say thank-you, and write a thank-you note, even if she hates the present.

More than a toy box full of toys is excessive. The kid won't play with all of them and it's just more clutter to clog up your house.
