Is this normal 3yr old behavior?

My darling 3yr old lol. He thinks he is a dog or cat! He is constantly acting like an animal. We have a dog and a cat. He does these things, like spases out. He gets really hyper and goes nuts, Pawing, scratching, destroying, biting, running, digging etc. I don't know if this is normal? I try very hard to keep him amused and busy, unfortunately I can't entertain him 24/7. We go on walks, bike rides, swimming, you name it.
I tried just letting him do it, I have tried redirection, should I start punishing him? I don't want to. Its like he is playing and extremely caught up in the moment.
What would you do? Did any of your children do this?

Do some research on where your child should be developmentally, and you will have your answer.

Kids are weird so it's pretty normal for them to do weird things.
