Vent! Dsd is 4 and yes she has autism. Her mother is constantly saying how she is so special compared to non autistic kids. Really? I'm sorry it has taken two years of therapy for her to learn to put her shoes on but that doesn't mea when my 18 month old learned to put his on it wasn't special too!!!!!

Seriously though I don't think you are grasping the whole scenario.  It is like a blind man learning to play the piano.  It doesn't mean your child isn't special just that it is easier for your child to accomplish the task then a child with a disability.

Of for Pete Sake. Let her be happy.
She's got a long road ahead of her.
It never hurt anyone in the world to be kind.

I don't believe for one second she said her daughter was more special than your child.
