Ask me anything

To answer the most asked questions.
I am 23.
My great grandfather was born into slavery. His parents had come from Ireland, and their kind were treated so poorly that they had no choice but to become slaves.
They lived in Arkansas.
I did know him.
He earned his freedom at the age of 13.
He is not alive still, he died when I was about 6 years old.

Did he take orders well, or was he whipped frequently? How about you? Are you defiant, or are you a good girl?

He loved his master so much he took his last name. He was a hard worker. I'm not defiant. And how sure are you that he was of a different race than you?

Do you really think it matters? I know that slavery was wrong and I am glad to learn and teach about it. I hope Americans never repeat it, but do you think that gives you some distinction?

Did you know this growing up? If not, how did you feel when you learned about it?

Did you know him personally?

Where your grandparents born while he was a slave? (Did that happen?)

Does your family hold a grudge against white people because of this?

What did he go on to do afterward, assuming slavery ended while he was young enough, and able?

Do you have an acestry.com account? Have you traced your roots to see when your ancesters came to america?
