DD has been acting out a lot lately. She has missed her curfew several times, talks back all the time, and has not been doing good in school. She is 17. She got a ticket for driving with a friend in the car (against the law here) and it was $500 and we could not really afford it. I paid the ticket and then put the car up for sale. I got 3 times as much as the ticket when I sold it this weekend. She has been grounded and she doesn't know I sold it. I havent told her yet. Dh thinks it is better to just wait until she realizes herself but idk. I do not feel bad because she has shown that she is not responsible to drive a car right now.

yeah idk....random confession/vent

I'd tell her, in my eyes its wrong to let her find out about it.

What are you doing with the rest of the money? Are you keeping it or giving it to her? Maybe donate it to a charity she choses?

I think you should have warned her that this would be the consequence.

Paying bills with it. It was my old car that we let her drive but the rules were that if she broke the rules it would be gone. I don't think she took us seriously though.

She knows she won't be driving anyway until she pays us back. She jsut doesnt know that she will never get that car back

Now THAT is a Punishment that will sink for kids who think they're bad behavior will not be rectified because of their age
