Why is it OK to let balloons go in the sky? Why is this socially acceptable?

But if you took those same balloons and didn't blow them up, threw them in the street....that's littering.

It's terrible.

People don't realize it hurts wild life and just makes our planet look dirty.

I never thought it was okay

even as a child I feared for the animals lives it would endanger

yes, I really did, I would cry when my mom would just release them.  Id rather pop and throw away.

Now as an adult I dont cry about it, but I legit will stop people from doing it and say, oh we'll just take them home or have more fun popping them

Good point. I like to pretend that they go so high in the atmosphere that they incinerate. Lets just pretend that, ok?  :)

No idea; I always assumed it was still littering. I don't think it's okay, and I don't know anyone who has done it except by accident

Also, birds can swallow parts of the balloons and that can kill them.   Unsupervised balloons are bad news.

but it is. I've heard of people doing it at weddings, placing hopes and wishes in them and sending them off. They do it at schools....it is acceptable.

It looks pretty. A balloon on the street, not so much. Lol
