Military wives ..

Or anyone that knows anything about joining any branch of the military.

My dh was wanting to join but because he has a son out of wedlock he says that in order for him to join the army he has to sign over all parental rights to his son. Is this true or is this his way of backing out?

Not true. YOU guys are married, therefor it is not an issue.

Does he have full custody of the child? If not, also a non issue.

Custody has never been established he pays his child support and ex let's him see his son.

 Doesn't matter at all. He does NOT sign his rights away. He is very misinformed.

That is what he told me because I think he's afraid to leave his family if he joins and this was his way of backing out without sounding like a baby.

There is alot of misconception about that, I have been told the same thing. Its not true through.
