Infant feeders?

I know these things were discontinued years ago.

But can anyone find a link stating why? A mom on my FB is searching for one (apparently they still sell on ebay for $60+ each).

I know the reason why they were discontinued, but I can't find any link to back it up.

That is what an infant feeder is for anyone who doesn't know.

My dfs sister uses them, but I doubt she spent that much on them. I don't know where she got them. I don't use them.

My family just got a regular bottle and made the hole in the nipple a little bit bigger. It worked for them.

I haven't seen one in stores in almost 10 years. I remember being a kid and reading about kids choking from being feed solids too soon, and other issues that came with introducing solids too soon.

Really? Why would a clothing store sell this?

They aren't sold because food shouldn't come from a bottle.

I'm not discounting that there are medical reasons for it, only that the average baby should not have food or cereal placed in a bottle.
