I've heard of things like that but I've never tried it, my kids are too old for timeouts.

Yes I have one. We call it the calm down jar. The kids love it and my 5 year old often asks for it when she's having a bad day.

well, that's one way to prevent them from thinking about what they did and how they can do better next time.

Aww really? I think I'm gonna have to try it, I'm having such a hard time getting mine to learn how to calm down and I just saw this on Facebook

I've seen them with large confetti-like glitter in them at the preschool my daughter went to years ago.  I know that they used them from time to time.  I'm not sure how long it would take for all the tiny pieces of glitter to settle?

We don't use it for time outs, just calm down time. Mine is only 3 minutes.
