Would you consider me married?

I'm an American Muslim, and my dh and I went through an Islamic marriage ceremony, and signed the marriage certificate. We did everything that would be included in a marriage, but we chose not to sign the marriage license in our state. Legally in the USA we would not be considered married, but islamically we are. Would you consider us married? I'm not looking for approval or confirmation, just curious what others would view us as.

And before anyone asks, I guess I should mention that no he is not married to anyone else. We can go to the courthouse tomorrow, but he has left it up to me to decide when we will sign the marriage license.

Of course.
We did the same but chose to go do it at the court a few months later.

If you're committed to each other that's marriage. Papers or not. BUT you might want to do it "legally" so you guys can make medical decisions for each other if it gets to that point.

I would, because it's about your commitment to each other, not the government.

I consider you married-the religious aspect and government aspect are different.  Out of curiousity, why did you not go the legal route?

I would consider it's none of my business whether you're married or not. :))

If you consider yourself married, I consider you married.

Legally... no. Spiritually yes...

Why did you choose not to sign the marriage license?
