i have two kids....dd is 7 and ds is 5. All summer i have let them stay up until they were ready to go to bed and let them sleep in until 11 or noon. it may not work for some but it works for us.

I wish my child would sleep in!!! No matter how late he stays up he's up by 7:30, he just gets super grumpy if he stayed up late and is tired. He is almost 9 and has never been one to sleep in, unlike his mother.

Dh and i work, so staying up late isn't a option. Ds is in bed by 8 every night.

Isn't it hard for them to wake up early once school starts?

Must be nice, I let my oldest stay up late (he's 8) and he's up at 7am :/

I did the same with who is 5 but he's always up by 7(on his own)...I started getting him back into the school routine last week though.

Same here. It's called summer break for a reason. About a week before school starts they go back to a school routine, going to bed earlier and getting up earlier.
