The word is "no".
The object is a lock.
Both are effective.
I usually gate my 2 and 3 year old in one of their rooms for 20 minutes with their toys. I can get a pretty full routine in during that time and they are used to it.
I don't mind a "potty party" if I'm just going pee. It helps me potty train them.
Yes well even saying no and locking the door still has some of us mommies with little fists banging on the door and screaming fits to deal with.
right now i am potty training so i take my dd with me whenever i go. but after she is done being potty trained i will def be closing the door.
i don't care if my kids see me in the bathroom or not.. i don't lock my doors inside the house because i expect my kids to keep theirs opened and locked. I also don't complain about my kids following me or being where they shouldn't be though :p
