My child recieved a bday party invitation to a big water park.
On the bottom in big BOLD letters it says must rsvp by aug 1st. If you rsvp your kid and dont show you must reimburse their ticket.

eta just out of curiosity i looked it up and the ticket price is 32.95

Sounds like it's pricey so the mom wants to make sure people rsvp and show up.

I see nothing wrong with it...sounds like it costs a bit to get in and mom is making sure of two things.

That every child attending RSVPs.
That she gets what she paid for.  If she pays for a kid and they don't show, she still paid out for them to be there and wants reimbursed for her money going to waste.

I think it would be less tacky to put it on a side piece of paper, not on the actual invitation. But I understand where they are coming from.

Seems reasonable actually.  I think RSVPing and not showing up would be tacky.

It is tacky, but small water parks can easily charge $10-20 admission per kid. I imagine if its a "big" water park that this is going to be an expensive party and yeah, I'd be pissed if you said you were coming and I bought you a ticket and you didn't show up.

yes, tacky. That's the risk you take with b-day parties.

It is tacky but it sounds like they are buying the tickets in advance to save money. Of course, there really isn't any way they could make you pay for the ticket.

I don't think it's tacky. There are too many asshole parents anymore who RSVP to things, and then just don't show.
