My son lost his 1st tooth today and I need to know what is the tooth fairy going rate. Do they get more for their 1st tooth? What did you give your kids? Help! Thanks!

DD hasn't lost any teeth yet so I can't help with today's rate.  I've always been under the opinion that parents pay too much when acting as the tooth fairy anyway.  When I was a kid I got a quarter while friends were getting a dollar.  I think a quarter is still a good rate.  I mean, its just something fun.  Little kids don't really need the money for anything.

I always got a dollar per tooth growing up and that's what I do for my kids as well.  My DS is almost 7 and has just started losing teeth.

I can't remember honestly I think I gave $20 for the first tooth. And we give $5 for all others.

They save their money to buy toys or ice cream from the ice cream truck. Or for those dumb rides at the mall. Plus it teaches money management.

You know cavities aren't always caused by bad oral hygiene right?
