So I Just Got A Stun Gun And...

I need to know if I need a permit to carry this thing?

I am in Ohio.

I did not buy the stun gun. Someone died and left it to me. If a permit is needed this person likely didn't have one.

Also do I need to press it up against someone for it to work? I walk home from work at night so I just wondered.

My job doesn't care if I have it as long as it's kept in my locker.

Not sure but I inherited my father's guns after he died and we didn't need a permit for them.

Do you know how I would go about getting one?

I don't think you need a permit for them.   I used to carry a taser and mace when I was riding my bike to/from work at night.  I would imagine you would only need a permit for the kind of stun gun that the police carry, the one that launches the contacts at the target rather than having to press them up aganist them.

And you don't need a permit to own a gun in your own home.  You need permits for concealed carry and sometimes for open carry if it's legal in your state.

I have one but I live in Florida and we only need a permit for a taser I believe.   You just push the button and make contact with the person.  You should really just stop by a police sub station and ask them so you get a current answer.
