What is your bedtime routine?

Do you do a bath and story in a routine?
Or maybe you tell them to go to sleep and shut the door?

I'm trying to change my childrens' sleeping habits. They are 10, 5 and 4. Since day 1 living in this new house they've all chosen to sleep together. Well now they're becoming a pain. My oldest wants to sleep alone now (he has his own room). The two little ones always play and kick each other and keep each other awake. They both have their own rooms, so I just have to figure out how to get this going and completely change up what they're used to.

We have no routine. DH and I both weren't raised with one, it was just "go brush your teeth, it's bedtime", so this is all new to me. But my friend does the bath, teeth and book thing, and it works like a charm. Any tips on how to get them to go to sleep easily - alone? I don't know if they will be scared. What is your routine?

Bath, snack, watch movie in bed, read a bible story then bed

Since Naeem has aspergers we stick to the same routine. If we have other plans I discuss it with him days in advance so he is aware. If he is blindsided it can cause issues.

Wow that's a long routine. You would have to start that maybe 3 hours before bedtime?

We get home at 6:30pm so we don't eat dinner until around 7. They go to bed (if I'm lucky) at around 9pm, so that wouldn't work for me  :(

After dinner gets cleaned up, DD and I bathe DS.
Then get him lotions up and ready for bed.
Then DD gets her pajamas on, we relax.
She calls DH at 7:45 and then the story line.
And at 8 she goes to bed.
I tuck her in. And go nurse DS and he is in his rocker asleep by 9.

We start our bedtime routine at 6. Naeem has a sleeping disorder so he gets a half of mirtazapine at 9. He is asleep by 9:30.

And this is every single day, without fail?

Dinner, baths, book all together on the couch, then we each take one kiddo to their room for tuck-in. They are 4 and 6.

Yes.
DD has curls so I bathe her in the morning or her hair would be a poofy mess!
But it has been basically the same since she was a tiny one.
She is 5 now.

That's incredible. I've never been really good with sticking religiously to any one specific thing, so I can see this being a struggle for me. But if other moms can do it, I guess so can I.

We do a bath every other night, get a cup of water, then brush teeth, change into pj's, read a book, and then I rub her back and sing her a song. Sometimes she has a hard time going right to sleep so she is allowed to read a book to herself while she is in bed. She is 4 and this works really well for us.

My family ha always made fun of me because I had to be home by 7 every night.
Lol.
Obviously if something big comes up its thrown off, but the key isn't to give up.
