Which is Better? Renting or Owning a House?

Renting, you don't have all the house expenses to pay for, but you throw your money away on someone else's property, making THEM richer.

Owning, you have all the repairs you have to pay for, but the house is yours.

Renting. I am not a fix it person so I like renting, that way my landlord can come fix things lol.

Plus, I don't really see the point in buying a house, when it's just me and my son. We don't really need all that space. We have a duplex now so we have a yard and the guy upstairs is disabled so he is as quiet as a mouse.

in the long run owning a house is better...its cheaper. if u pay rent every month for years ur not gaining anything. if u buy a home, sure u may pay a bit more in mortgage n all the other things, but in the end ull spend less cuz it stops at some point and then u have a home, that u may pass down to ur children.

renting is my only option right now, but one day I hope to own a home. I think I would love it.

Renting is whats best for us right now. Repairs are far too costly. The owner of the house we rent had to put on a new roof and a new AC system within the last 8 months or so...a total of about $10,000. We haven't even asked him to level it yet (foundation is falling in).

I prefer to own. We're diy people, I like to customize my home as my own. Plus, I don't like to have anyone controlling what I can or cannot do with my property, so I'm also againdt hoa's.
