I came home and a bottle of liquid detergent had fallen and spilled all over my laundry room/bathroom and one of my cats had gotten into it and ingested some. She had raspy breathing and her entire underside was slimy so I raced her to the vet.

I was of course worried about her but thankfully after X-rays and a bath the vet thinks she will be ok.

The vet tech hands her to me in her carrier and tells me that I need to keep her calm for the next few days because when she's calm she doesn't have that raspy breathing.

There is a lady behind me with her 3 children the youngest being 2/3. I assume she heard the vet tech because I could hear the vet tech talking to the lady in front of me.

Since Guinevere weighs 12.8 pounds the carrier was heavy so I set it down on the floor and the lady's son decides to start poking the carrier! It's a soft sides carrier so when he would poke at the mesh it would collapse around his finger.

I look at him and said my kitty is very sick please leave her alone.

Ww3 almost broke out after I uttered those words.

The mother looks at me and says how dare you talk to my son that way! You have no right you bitch!

I should've just shut my mouth but I have a temper and so I shot back well I could have told your brat to fuck off!

Thankfully for both of us the vet techs broke up the altercation and escorted the lady and her kids to a room while I finished paying.

I left red faced, I shouldn't have lost my cool but I was coming off the adrenalin of what had just transpired with Guinevere so I wasn't thinking clearly.

Ugh what a day :-(

First of all, you didn't tell the brat to "fuck off", so your title is misleading...second of all, I am sure she deserved to have someone give it back to her.  You don't just let your kids run wild in the vet's office, there are sick and injured animals who need peace and quiet.

I don't blame you. All you said was leave your cat alone, that lady took it the extreme.
