Chicken pox!! :(:(

Just got a call from a close friend. Her dd just came down with chicken pox. We had the kids all together for friend's dd's birthday two weeks ago.

Sympotoms just showed up on the little girl today. Now I'm paranoid as hell that dd and ss will end up with them, too.
Both kids have had one chicken pox vaccine, but they aren't due to get the other shot for a bit. I'm not sure if its effective after one, or if its not any good until after both doses? Any tips?

Oh yuck :( watch them and pick up some calimine lotion.

If they get it though remember they will probably be immune for life unlike the vaccine where it wears off after a whole.

All my kids got them from the shot. The is suppose to help that they are not as bad. It will not always stop them from getting them.

Hope they don't get them! And if they do, then you injected all that poison in them for no reason ;)

And if they don't, then perhaps "that poison" worked?

That stinks! Both my older kids came down with them the same day. We were pretty much housebound for 2 weeks. My youngest got the vaccine, and so far has never gotten them, and he is 19 now. Bless your heart, hope your kiddoes don't get them.

Chicken pox isn't a big deal for kids. So even if they get it it's just itchy for the most part. They can take oatmeal baths for that.

If they get it remember to avoid NSAIDs. Just use cool water for the fever.
