So today while attempting to teach my oldest DD how to perform a cart wheel we were talking about her impending entry into kindergarten, and how important it is to pay attention and get good grades so she could get a good job when she grows up.

I was asking her what she wanted to be, and she gave a wide range of answers from pop star to a cow girl. Then she decided what she wants to do. And I quote

Momma, I want to be a nurse that helps delivery babies and helps to make them healthy so their mommies can take them home and love them. And I promise to listen to what they want to do, even if I don't think its a good idea.

Translation: She wants to work in a maternity ward, and will follow mom's birth plan and cues if that's what mom chooses.

This is coming from a child that turned 5 not even 5 days ago. So I was very proud that she's paid attention to when I had her sister. She knows how babies are born (not how they're made) and the different ways a woman can have a baby (naturally, c-section, water births, with or without pain meidicne) and she loves learning this type of stuff and taking care of baby dolls and playing doctor with her sister.

I had to laugh when I realized my 5 year old had a career goal already, and I just now found mine.

So what do your kids want to be? If they're grown, did they follow their childhood dream?
