Melatonin is NOT 'natural' !!!

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post
When it comes in a pill, it is not the same thing that is produced in your body! Most OTC melatonin is derived from animals and synthetics. Stop giving it to your kids! Melatonin is a HORMONE! Would you let them have birth control pills?

Look witch, when you have tried EVERYTHING to get your kids to bed and they are tired groggy and doing badly in school but WILL NOT SLEEP AT NIGHT, and in return you are an awful mommy because you are so tired and it goes on for YEARS, than you can say MELATONIN SUCKS. Until then, SHUT UP.

Oh well if an almighty doctor told you I use it, it must be safe!!

My doctor told me to use it.  So yeah.

It's the same with many vitamins.

Are you going to make a post like this with Tylenol? Tylenol is probably worse for your body.

Ignorant means uninformed. I think YOU may be the ignorant one.

Sometimes melatonin is medically warranted. The same goes for birth control.

Your Dr must believe the benefits out weigh the serious risk. Ask next time

Quoting hopeym23:

Yup.  I actually trust my doctor.  You know all those years of training and all.

I understand doctors are not perfect.  The fact of the matter is that more than one doctor has told me to use it and said it was a naturally occuring substance in the body and that some people do not produce enough on their own.  the last doctor I talked at my 3 year olds well visit suggeted this was the case with my kids....probably.  (I'm not going to do any blood tests for it)

Quoting Yogamom08:

My doctor told me to give my 3 month old rice cereal because, according to him, my breastmilk would no longer satisfy her. He also told me to give her water instead of breastmilk if she seems hungry when it's hot out.

The point is- doctors can and do give shitty advice. It's so important as a parent to do your own research and/or seek second opinions.

Yeah, I will allow my daughter to be on birth control pills. Not allowing it is very irresponsible.

Tylenol is not welcome in my home either. But is Tylenol a hormone?
