I spent $70 on school supplies from the list they have at walmart. When i went to open house the teacher gave me a list and every single thing was different. I didn't buy anything else. I sent him to school with what i already had. I wasn't about to spend even more money.

Im tired of the three page lists every year! Why should I buy 4 boxes of crayons when dd only needs one?! I get sick of paying for other ppls kids! If I were you I wouldnt worry abt it.

we just moved here so we didn't get a list in the mail. and when i registered him, there wasn't a  list either. I went on tax free weekend and bought everything on the list that they hand out at walmart.

I learned this lesson 2 years ago, NEVER go by the store school supply lists.

I always wait for the teachers but I always keep the basics anyway, like pencils, markers , crayons, dry erase markers and etc.

then why not return what you got and get what the teacher asked for?

You could have taken them back. I wonder why the two lists were so different. I send my kids to school with paper and pencil the first day. Then the weekend after they go back I buy what they need to get started, and add to it as needed. They really don't need every single item on the list the first day, or even first week back.

Yet again, the teacher will have to buy the supplies out of her pocket that you can't be bothered to buy.

There was only one thing on the list that I couldnt find. and the teacher said not to worry about it that she had never heard of it.
