Anyone have a story they'd like to share, good or bad? Or advice?Something docs won't tell us?

I am scared for my mother right now and she's trying to make a decision on type of dialysis but is against a transplant.

I have suffered from kidney stones and infections since I was a kid. One if my biggest fears is ill need to go on dialysis one day or need a transplant. Scary shit.

Dialysis can take over your life, it's generally done three day's a week and takes hours to have it done.

Why is she against a transplant?

My mom died waiting for a transplant. If she has the chance to have one she needs to take it.

Her reasons were the large amounts of medication and the intense surgery.

I'm a former dialysis tech. Are there any specific questions? I might be able to answer some!

She may consider a transplant  after going through dialysis for a few weeks. It is very draining and time consuming.

I'm in Stage 3 Kidney Failure. I'm not sure if its stage 4 or 5 when they start dialysis and put you on the transplant list. I'm interested in the answers you get.

I can understand that. She may however reconsider it once she realizes that she has to go to dialysis for the rest of her life.
