Do You Refer to Your DD as Your Best Friend?

I have a friend who constantly refers to her 12yr old as her 'little betty', meaning 'best friend'...

i always considered myself a parent, not a best friend.  Hopefully i'll be their best friend as well as still be their mother when they are older with famillies of their own, and our relationship will take on that bond.

No. My kids are my kids, not my friends, just as I am their mother, not their friend.

My oldest daughter was like my best friend for a while there. We're very close and we talk just like friends do- didn't stop me from disciplining her when needed though.

My daughter is 14 and I probably feel the same way.We are very close but she is my daughter and baby girl.

As our little girls grow I think the relationship grows too.I wont go partying with my daughter....but she can always talk to me about anything.

Nope. As my girls inch closer to tweens, thats a slippery slope. They know they can talk to me about anything, but I am not their friend.
