I remember reading this book around 4th or 5th grade, early 2000s, I really liked it but can't remember for the life of me what it's called. I thought it might be Orphan Train, but that's not it.
The main character is a girl around 12 or 13 named Frances. She has a few younger brothers and sisters, and it takes place maybe around the late 1800s. They get on this train going West to be auctioned off as hired help. Frances pretends to be a boy and tells the conductor her name is actually Francis and that the E in her name was a typo. Her and her sisters get sent to this big farm house and I think her brothers go to another that's not too far away. The people that "bought" them end up finding out Frances was a girl I think when she beats someone up for something.
