Remove them from the situation and if that means walking out of a store mid shopping trip or a restaurant mid meal so be it

Leave the situation, but usually talking to them solves the problem.  Acting out usually happens when they're hungry or tired.....a nap or a meal fixes the problem 99% of the time.

I tell her to stop acting like a baby or we will go home. It works awesome.

We left.  Even if that meant leaving a basket of stuff in the store and not paying for any of it.

I spank occasionally.  In public my DS gets removed from the store to be punished.  95% of the time the threat of a spanking gets the result and change of behavior I want from him.

Taught him how to behave at home, so he knew how to behave in public. Made sure we went places when he wasn't sick or tired.

I taught him manners and respect.

IF he did act up in public we left.

My child has never been spanked. He's now a 17 year old that is respectful and well behaved.

Try TEACHING your child how you want them to act instead of spanking.

I keep them busy. I also believe in preventative ways. So if u r shopping at a mall take breaks in between to play and snack. Or groceries have them pick your fruits veggies etc. Also if i know my kids tired and grumpy i plan for a different time
