My  ASD son has been so good and sweet. As much as I hate to say this. spanking was the answer!

3 light spats on the diaper and sit him on the couch. He's been wonderful!

I came from an abusive household and didn't want to do this, but this is what my mil did when he was visiting and swore it worked, so I finally tried.

I know it doesn't always work with every child, but yay!

 1. I would have punched my MIL in the face for hitting my child.

2. Spanking is the lazy way out.

Yay? I'm not exactly against spanking but probably not something I would ever cheer for.

If it works for you. We don't spank in our family. Time out works great for my son :)

I couldn't control him and that's why my mil took him. I had tried everything and his therapist told me to medicate him.

I have never spanked. Other things work too. Although I can't imagine hitting a baby still in a diaper.

I tried that for a year. He gave me a bloody nose, concussion and cut open my leg and I decided I had to do something!

He doesn't feel it because I do it so light. Plus he's 4.

So.....ASD means he is special needs, right? I could not and do not spank my able minded kids but spanking a child with special needs seems like abuse.

It does work. Short term. I can't see myself spanking a 16 year old. I prefer discipline that I can use from little years to teen years.
